Change Is Often Rewarding

Canisbay Lake, Algonquin Provincial Park.                      Felt Pen on Print Paper

The other day I came across some printmaking paper, paper specifically used for making woodblock prints. As I'm, in a manner of speaking, winding down, and in all likelihood will never ever make another woodblock print, I thought to make a quick sketch, experimenting with a permanent black ink felt pen. The reason that I'm mentioning this is to encourage experimenting with various materials. Should you decide to experiment what you will find is that every paper reacts differently, and often times results in a pleasing affects. Sometimes it's a challenge, as was the case here, finding the paper very absorbent, and requiring a change of drawing style to come up with something halfway pleasing.

From time to time break the mould, and challenge yourself. Change is often rewarding.

2023

Well all, it's a new year. This past couple of years, what with the Covid-19 pandemic, the war going on into Ukraine, and global economics in a disarray, it's been a trying time for all. Let's hope for the powers to be to come to their senses and for better times. I could say let's hope for things to return to normal, but, I'm afraid that, the old normal is gone for ever. The pandemic, concern about global warming, and  the war, have served to bring change, perhaps even permanent change to the world's order. This aside, I know just the place to allow us to escape the world's insanity. There's this park in Ontario, Canada, up Algoma way, bordering the shores of mighty Lake Superior, called Lake Superior Provincial Park, and one of the stops along the highway is Katherine Cove. To sit on the rocky outcropping along the shore, and listen to the waves will serve to bring peace and quiet to the most troubled soul. My last wish is to have time to visit Katherine Cove.....

Just to be clear, Katherine Cove is not the only perfect spot to sit and contemplate life, there are many, Old Woman Bay, the Nokomis Trail, Orphan Lake, and so many more. Lake Superior Provincial Park is a must see should you ever visit Canada.

I could go on, and on, telling you about the incredible vistas, but I'll leave this up to you to find out when you visit Lake Superior country.

Best Wishes everyone for the New Year!
