Change Is Often Rewarding

Canisbay Lake, Algonquin Provincial Park.                      Felt Pen on Print Paper

The other day I came across some printmaking paper, paper specifically used for making woodblock prints. As I'm, in a manner of speaking, winding down, and in all likelihood will never ever make another woodblock print, I thought to make a quick sketch, experimenting with a permanent black ink felt pen. The reason that I'm mentioning this is to encourage experimenting with various materials. Should you decide to experiment what you will find is that every paper reacts differently, and often times results in a pleasing affects. Sometimes it's a challenge, as was the case here, finding the paper very absorbent, and requiring a change of drawing style to come up with something halfway pleasing.

From time to time break the mould, and challenge yourself. Change is often rewarding.
