I gave up my studio some years ago, and although I stopped marketing my art, I continued to make sketches and paintings gifting the odd piece here and there at Christmas. On one occasion I gifted an entire collection of sketches and paintings of Killarney Provincial Park to their Friends organization to be sold piece-meal to raise funds for various park programs. I still have a fairly massive collection of sketches and water-colours, many of Algonquin Provincial Park, as well as some intaglio prints, and as I fade away, as artists do, I can't help but wonder what will happen to my creative efforts. I recall friends who have gone away, and wonder just what happened to their efforts. Landfill, I suppose. Sad, when you think about it, all that time, and effort spent making art for people to enjoy to be buried, or burned, along with someone's old couch, and household garbage. I suppose that you could say it's the chance that you take when you decide to pursue a career in the arts, foolishly thinking that you might catch the eye of someone high up and fade away with the knowledge that your art, and your memory might live on. Perhaps, there's still time. Perhaps, one day when archeologists are unearthing an old garbage dump they might come across a drawing or two, and for a moment you might become famous. Perhaps....
